My Audi A4 has about seventy thousand kilometres and drives fine in the city. But long roads with four people and bags in the boot feel different to me. Last night I read a bit online, and I found a Reliable checklist of Audi transmission warning signs that listed things like slow shifting, jerking, strange noises and a burning smell. I do not have any of those, but now I keep wondering if I am missing something. My friend says if the car feels good, just go. My wife says I should get a quick check to be safe. Who is right? Is it worth paying a workshop before a trip like this, or is that too much worry? Also, what should I look at myself, like the oil colour or any lights on the dash? And do you do anything special on long drives, like stopping to let the car rest in hot weather? I would like to hear what you do before a big trip.
